Land of hikes, highlands, and Harry Potter.

Welcome to the Scottish Highlands! This historical area is a mountainous region encompassing northwest Scotland and is known for Loch Ness, its hiking trails, and Harry Potter!

There are several Harry Potter filming locations in the Scottish Highlands. One of the most famous is the Glenfinnan Viaduct, the train bridge that inspired J.K. Rowling's train to Hogwarts.

If you only have time to visit one part of the Scottish Highlands, it needs to be the Isle of Sky. There's a lot to see on this island, but travel experts say you can't leave without seeing these gems: the Quiraing, the Old Man of Storr, Neist Point and the Fairy Pools.

Pro-Tip: The best time to visit the Scottish Highlands is between May and September. This is when the region is the warmest and gets the most sunshine.
